ON BEING CONNECTED                                                                                               Click on thumbnails in gallery below to view larger image

We live in a world that facilitates increasing disconnection from land and each other. Yet as humans we have an inherent need to connect and belong. These images are taken from a photographic series that asks the question: Do we seek out belonging by whatever means remain when connection to land and community becomes increasingly unattainable?

I examine what it is that disconnects us, and how mass consumerism and ICT fill the ensuing gap, whilst simultaneously increasing the wealth of the richest who perhaps first create, and then fulfill, our need. Four of the five wealthiest in the world made their money from ICT or retail at the time of completing this series.
