Discover Bute Landscape Partnership Scheme

How can we best celebrate landscape? How can we conserve and develop our rural heritage? How do we provide opportunities for people of all ages to get involved? And can we create a legacy, which lives on after the project closes?

These are some of the questions that Discover Bute Landscape Partnership Scheme sought to address. The scheme received 2.8 million pounds to achieve its desired outcomes.

Over the 4 years of the project’s duration, from August 2008 until July 2012, efforts were concentrated on a diverse range of activities to this end, and managed by project coordinator Bridget Paterson.

I was commissioned to produce and curate an exhibition as part of the final event, to showcase the work of Discover Bute Landscape Partnership Scheme.

Working alongside David Rennie on interactive feedback, and Jessica Herriot and Maria van Oostende on sculptural installations, the final event included: 5 banners; a conceptual audiovisual (view here); sculptural installations built from items the team chose as representing their time on the project; a map indicating locations worked; a model dry stone wall; samples of publications produced; a small cinema of film clips demonstrating the work and activities spanning the 4 years; an interactive station for audience feedback.
